This is a difficult book to plow through and is an excellent book group choice to read and discuss chapter by chapter. It helps the reader understand the beginnings of racism and anti-black thinking. It explains how racist ideas spread throughout the U.S. It will definitely help to change the way you think about race. This is a very deep book and is troubling. It was well worth the effort to read the book but you will need to be a committed reader to take it on.
