Children in Worship

Children are ALWAYS welcome in worship at Covenant.

We also have a wonderful nursery staffed by Linda Greely who has been trained in child development and is beloved by our children. In addition, our nursery always has a volunteer church member who has undergone background checks and training.

We also offer Sunday School classes for preschool-6th grade age children and youth. Typically children and youth start out in worship and go to their Sunday School classes after a Time for Children, which happens early in the worship service. This lets children participate in part of worship without expecting them to sit through the sermon or an entire service. Children who go to the nursery will sometimes go before worship begins and sometimes go during the service—either is completely fine.

However, children are ALWAYS welcome to be present for any and all of our services. Our members love to model what it means to worship together and are glad to make sure children feel included. There are Children’s Bibles in every pew and there are worship bags available that have quiet activities for kids to do during worship. We also always have a children’s bulletin available which includes activity sheets that correspond to worship and a set of crayons to go with it.

We know children wiggle and talk and make noises and sometimes even run down the aisle.  God loves them and so do we.  We encourage parents to quietly explain the various parts of worship and help their children to participate.  And if you need more space, there is a children’s corner in the narthex (the space behind the sanctuary) where you can spread out and find rocking chairs too.
